Multi-Side Bit - 6 or 12 Side
Also known as 'birds mouth" bits, Multi-Sided bits are a great way to join a wide variety of multi sided projects, such as planters, columns, barrels. Very straight forward, this joint requires routing a single notch in one edge of each stave (board). The notch improves ease of assembly and total glue area. Once assembled projects can be left flat sided, turned, planed, or sanded to the desired shape. Bits should be used in a router table with a fence. #R3506 & R3508 work with material up to 7/8" thick. #R3516 works with material up to 1" thick.
On 6 and 8 sided objects, the exterior side is cut face up on a router table. 12 and 16 sided objects are cut face down. Bit #R3506 is used for both 6 and 12 sided objects. Either flush or ribbed (outside corners protruding) construction is possible. Ribbed construction is recommended with 12 and 16 sided objects because the interior leg of each notch will be very small when made flush. If desired, outside corners on ribbed construction can be cut or sanded down for a flush appearance.
Location of the inside corner of the notch (i.e. vertical bit adjustment) is important for final finish appearance. The outside leg of the notch (closest to the exterior) should be the same length as the stock thickness for flush construction. This will put the inside corner of the notch in the center of the stave on 6 sided flush projects. The inside corner will be below center (furthest from exterior side) on all others. Allow extra stock to experiment and set corner height as desired. Move notch towards exterior side (raise bit) to increase rib size (amount of outside corner protruding). Move notch away from exterior side (lower bit) to decrease amount of rib.
NOTE: Bit adjustment is reversed on 12 and 16 sided objects since those staves are cut face down.

Fine Finger Joint Bt
Used to join wood edge to edge or end to end. The huge gluing surface created by the bit makes a joint that is stronger than the wood itself. Rout the board edges then reverse the mating board for a perfectly matched joint.
The closest thing you'll ever find to the proverbial "board stretcher". Works with materials from 5/16" to 1-1/4" thick. 1/2" shank. 2 flute. Carbide tipped. Made by Whiteside. USA

Vee Panel Tongue & Groove Set
Excellent for making paneling or cabinet doors. Allows large areas to expand and contract with moisture conditions and resist buckling. Beveled edge at the seam gives a period look to certain styles of furniture and paneling.
Material over 1" thick requires a second cut on the tongue profile to waste away excess stock. Works best with materials from 5/8" to 1" thick. 1/2" shank. 2 flute. Carbide tipped. Made by Whiteside. USA

Straight Tongue & Groove Bit Set
Excellent for making paneling, flooring, or cabinet doors. Allows large areas to expand and contract with moisture conditions and resist buckling. Works with materials from 1/2" to 1-1/4" thick. 1/2" shank. 2 flute. Carbide tipped. Made by Whiteside. USA

Wedge Tongue & Groove Set
A slightly different pattern from the standard glue joint. Designed to make an interlocking edge-to-edge joint for wide panel glue-ups such as table tops, door panels, or cabinet sides.
Increases the surface area for gluing and helps prevent panels from shifting up or down under clamping pressure. Works with materials from 5/8" to 1-1/4" thick. 1/2" shank. 2 flute. Carbide tipped. Made by Whiteside. USA

Standard Glue Joint Bit
Designed to make an interlocking edge-to-edge joint for wide panel glue-ups such as table tops, door panels, or cabinet sides. Increases the surface area for gluing and helps prevent panels from shifting up or down under clamping pressure. Also known as a reversible glue joint.
Using boards of uniform thickness, center bit on stock, then reverse boards to make a perfectly matched joint. Works with material from 1/4" to 1-1/4" thick. 1/2" shank. 2 flute. Carbide tipped. Made by Whiteside. USA
