California Incense Cedar Calocedrus decurrens

AROMATIC AND VERY DURABLE SOFTWOOD
Though it is lightweight and soft, incense cedar is useful for its durability, straight grain and aroma. It is popular for fence posts and for making pencils, because the wood can be sharpened easily. An aromatic lumber, it is also favored by furniture makers for constructing drawers and boxes as an alternative to cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani), which is used extensively in Europe for that purpose.
