Ceylon Satinwood Chloroxylon swietenia
GLITTERING GOLD HARDWOOD THAT IS DIFFICULT TO WORK
View unfinished Ceylon satinwood under direct light and you will notice that it glitters, its tiny specks indicating the abrasive nature of the lumber. It is not particularly durable, but is attractive for paneling.

AVAILABILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
There are a number of different types of satinwood, so it is difficult to judge just haw widely available Ceylon satinwood is, but it is not the most expensive type. However, there are reports of overexploitatlon and it has been listed as vulnerable, so it is worth considering a certified alternative.
